Zafhar Gohar re-signs for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club

Gloucestershire Cricket Club have this morning confirmed the re-signing of spinner Zafhar Gohar for the 2022 season.

The Pakistan off-break bowler made a big impact across an interrupted 2021 campaign as the 26-year old spinner became a fans favourite at Bristol.

Although he only appeared in Gloucestershire’s final four matches of the LV County Championship season, he quickly settled into his new role taking season best figures of 11/101 in their final game of the season against Durham.

He also showed his class away from home, returning figures of 3/77 and 6/43 in trips to both Essex and Glamorgan respectively.

Speaking to the official club website, Gohar said “getting the opportunity to pull on a Gloucestershire shirt and contribute to a winning team was a great start to my career in England and I’m very pleased to be returning for a longer stint next year.

“We have a team capable of challenging anyone and some great momentum from 2021 to build on. I can’t wait to get back and hopefully pick up where I left off.”

Gohar will be available as a retained player from the first game of the season on a pay-by appearance basis until July, when he will become a full-time player for the remainder of the season.
