Police have ended an investigation involving Gloucester Rugby head coach Johan Ackermann and his son Ruan, in which a man suffered facial injuries. No action is to be taken against either men.
Gloucestershire Constabulary released a statement that two men, aged 47 and 22, had attended interviews on 31 January in connection with an incident at 21 Club in Cheltenham in the early hours of 17 December.
A statement released by Gloucester Rugby said: “A police investigation into a recent incident involving Johan and Ruan Ackermann has confirmed that no further action will be taken.
“Having fully supported Johan and Ruan throughout this process, the Club is delighted with the outcome of the investigation. Today’s news allows everyone involved to move on and to focus on an important few weeks on the pitch in the run in to the end of the season.”
Johan Ackermann was made head coach last summer ahead of the 2017-18 season, and his son Ruan signed for the club in August.
