Speaking after the game, it was clear to see team captain Josh Kane’s pride in his team’s performance and had it not been for untimely injuries, the University of Gloucestershire could have taken home the win with ease.
“[on how to better prepare] Not getting injuries to two key players would’ve helped.
“The injury to Pete (coach) who broke his foot, he hasn’t been able to coach us until half-way through March, so we had him for three weeks.
“I got injured as well four weeks ago which means I’ve been on the road to recovery. I rushed it and that didn’t help and you could just tell, some players weren’t up to speed.”
The loss could have also come from the lack to a key member of the squad, who was prevalent in last year’s team.
“Last year we had Alex Cheal, he helped us on the side-lines and we didn’t have that this year.
“Having someone to read the game in a different way than the way the players are on the court is a big bonus.
“Someone to manage the subs, someone to manage the players on the court at the right time.”
