University of Gloucestershire Men’s First Team gained promotion from Western 2B league on Wednesday, after thrashing Bristol 8-1.
As well as being undefeated during this BUCS season, they are also through to the semi-finals of the cup where they will play Southampton Solent, who are currently the league above UoG.
The boys’ season has been a large success, as they have won matches 9-0 and 7-0 against top universities such as Exeter and Cardiff.
Vice-captain Jack Tebb, a third year, has seen rapid progression from the team as the students have filtered in and out.
Tebb said: “We’ve had a massive influx of freshers and they’ve been fantastic through the season…we have put in a lot of hours, the hard graft and it’s finally come true which is fantastic.”
In terms of how he has fared from an individual standpoint, Tebb is currently rehabilitating from a nasty injury suffered in the last few weeks. The vice-captain has a broken eye socket, and only has 80% vision in his left eye.
