Potential battle between Gloucester Rugby wingers on the international stage.

This weekend sees Wales welcome England to the Parc y Scarlets and a potential battle between Gloucester’s very own flyers as Louis Rees-Zammit and Jonny May.

Both players graduated from Hartpury college into the Gloucester rugby first team and are now making their impact on the Autumn Nations cup.

The two have given themselves a chance to make their respective Nations’ match day squad with both scoring in last weekend’s round of fixtures.

Jonny May cut loose for England in their 24-12 win over Ireland with two first half tries, the first coming from a cross field kick from the boot of Owen Farrell. The second try, an 80 metre effort, saw him beat six Irish defenders by sprinting the first 60 metres before a chip and chase over Irish fullback Hugo Keenan and finally beating Peter O’Mahoney to the bouncing ball. Was this one of the greatest English tries of all time to be scored at Twickenham?

Rees-Zammit crossed over to score his first international try against Georgia in Wales 18-0 victory in Llanelli, with the youngster crossing with a simple catch and dive from 5 yards out.

Gloucester Rugby also have another winger in the England camp, with Ollie Thorley being a very unlikely candidate to make the match day squad. Eddie Jones has been flirting with the idea of converting the former Cheltenham College man from a winger to a flanker.

Gloucester head of rugby George Skivinton will enjoy seeing two of his star men battle it out, but he could really be doing with his players back as soon as possible with the cherry and whites putting out a poor performance in their 38-15 loss away to Leicester Tigers in the opening round of the Gallagher Premiership.
