It all ve-GAN with this – plant-based Christmas market comes to Gloucester

A vegan Christmas market will be sprouting at Blackfriars in Gloucester to kick off festive celebrations.

It is the fifth Christmas market of its kind in the city, hosted by Vegan Events Gloucestershire.

There is a large trader list for the day, selling delectable treats, drinks, gifts, and services as well as organisations. These include the Cotswold Vegan Bakery, T-Slices smoothies, Lunarescent Candle Company, Three Counties Hunt Sabs and Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.

A spokesperson for Vegan Events Gloucestershire said: ‘It’s usually a busy event with 1,000 people or more attending.

‘I think these events are important for providing positive vegan outreach, we get a lot of non-vegan or vegan-curious people attending and it’s a great opportunity to showcase amazing vegan food and products. I also always make sure to have vegan charities and outreach stalls there to answer any questions and give out information.’

Tom, whose company Hedgy Socks is vending on the day, said: ‘I love educating myself throughout this process as I continued to introduce a cool, funky, vegan and sustainable bamboo socks to new vegan consumers who are passionate about animals.

‘I have created a business that generates awareness for British wildlife and farm animals, whilst donating 10% of the profits to a local wildlife charity and farm animal sanctuary. I believe it’s important to remain resilient in my pursuit of success and making a difference.’

The number of vegans in Great Britain has quadrupled between 2014 and 2019, according to the Vegan Society.

The market runs from 10am-3pm on Sunday 4th December. Entry costs £3 and under 16s can go free.
