Fostering World Cup Challenge to Recruit More Carers

By Marina Shestakova

Gloucestershire County Council joins 26 authorities across the nation to share the importance of fostering locally. The campaign will bring together the fostering community with football teams, carers, young people and families.

On social media, councils from across the country are taking part in the #fosterwithyourcouncil2022 challenge, sharing little clips and YouTube videos every day during the World Cup games to recruit more foster carers.

Each day, a different Council will share their message from the 20th of November to the 18th of December.

Hertfordshire has already released a heart-warming clip of what fostering means to their county:

Fostering in your local area is especially important for children, allowing them to remain in their own community, stay at their existing school and be close to their friends and family during a crucial part of their life. When placed in a familiar environment, they can forget for a small moment that everything has changed when they are removed from the care of their parents due to neglect or abuse.

Stephen Davies, cabinet member for children’s services and early years at Gloucestershire County Council was proud to be part of this campaign, “Like football, fostering brings people and communities together for a common purpose. By working together, we can make a real difference in a child’s life.”

Gloucestershire County Council’s Campaign will be featured on Saturday 10th of December so make sure to check it out @FosteringGlos on Twitter.
