Every year the new Football Manager game comes around and with it a huge wave of excitement across a large group of football enthusiasts.
Who are the best players in the game? Who are the biggest wonderkids in the game? Who are Cheltenham Town’s best players in the game? These are all questions that get floated around a lot.
Luckily for many, we’re on hand to answer the last question for you.
Will Boyle
Scottish center-half Will Boyle is first up on the list.
The 25-year-old center-back is a good quality defender for League One level in the game, with his only major shortcoming being his lack of pace and acceleration.
Tackling, marking, and heading are seen as somewhat of the golden trio for defenders in the game, with Boyle having at least a 12 (out of 20) in all of those three stats, which is similar to what you might see in some Championship defenders in the game.
Positioning of 12 really tops of Boyle’s skillset as a defender, with 14 in leadership maybe even making him captain material.
Dan Crowley
Cheltenham’s new boy Dan Crowley’s pedigree is clear at the very second you open his profile on Football Manager.
A natural in central midfield, central attacking midfield, and wide on the right, the former Arsenal man has a wide array of stats that makes him a good choice for several positions.
14’s in dribbling, first touch and passing make him an incredible option in attacking midfield in the game, capable of unlocking most League One and maybe even Championship defences.
Crowley isn’t a complete player in the game though, with nine in finishing being a string that needs adding to his bow.

Alfie May
A quality attacker, Alfie May is bound to cause League One defences hell in the new Football Manager 2022.
11 for pace, and first touch and a 12 in dribbling, May is a perfect model for a “pressing forward.”
To top it all off, May’s main attraction is his pace.
13 acceleration and 12 for pace make him a danger should you get him in behind, something that could be easy to do with Dan Crowley set behind him.
An underrated stat for all strikers is “off the ball”, which defines the movements of players without the ball.
With 12 in this stat, May’s runs should be a good quality for the league, making him a handful for defenders with poor positioning.
