Key players in Cheltenham Town Ladies’ six-game unbeaten run

It’s very rare that a football team goes unbeaten in six straight games outside of the top end of the Premier League, making Cheltenham Town Ladies stunning start to the season even more impressive.

The Robins have lost just two games since the season has started, including one on the opening day of the season against Southampton Women which in its self was a hard-fought five-goal thriller.

When any team are in a good run of form, certain players always grab the spotlight, so who have been the key women in this impressive run of form?

Jade Grove

Jade Grove actually left Cheltenham this summer, signing for Oxford United Womens back in July.

However, Grove couldn’t stay away from the Robins returning to the club on the 10th of September, clearly bringing her shooting boots with her.

Grove has bagged five goals in the last six games for the Robins while also featuring for Worcester Futsal.

The Evesham-based 21-year old has picked up where she left off last season, putting her in good stead to kick on in a Cheltenham shirt.

Aimee Watson

Often when in good form the goalkeeping position goes relatively under the radar.

However, two clean sheets, including one against AFC Bournemouth, means that Aimee Watson deserves recognition for her work between the sticks.

Formerly the first choice goalkeeper at Bristol City Women, Watson has represented Wales at u16, u17, and u19 level in European Championship qualifiers.

Still only 20, Watson could be a mainstay between the sticks for years to come.

Lacy-Jai Liggett

Lacy-Jai Liggett is a midfielder who loves to use her pace to her advantage.

Bagging two goals in the Robins’s impressive six-game run, Liggett is a regular in the first-team side for good reason.

Liggett bagged the fourth and final goal against Liskeard Athletic, using her pace to get away before a tidy finish into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Liggett’s quality is clearly recognized by the opposition as well, winning opposition player of the match against Portishead Town FC.

Cheltenham will look to continue their fine form when they host Southampton Women on Sunday November 28 in the second round of the FA Cup.
