Cheltenham has a new antique market!
The market, which opened last week on November 13th, can be found on Cheltenham’s Promenade on Saturdays between 9 am and 3 pm. Admissions are free for the public and shoppers can expect to see a variety of vintage, used goods that they can purchase. The market is organised by Corky Events who claim that many of their traders also operate similar antiques markets in London.
Cory Events lists some of the positive benefits of buying vintage goods on their website. These include promoting sustainability and being a form of self-expression. Despite the market’s good intentions, some users expressed dissatisfaction with the market on the events Facebook, with one saying “it’s a pity there weren’t more stalls” and that he would have liked to see a “wider variety” of goods. This may be because this was the markets first outing so is yet to establish the publicity it needs to thrive and bring in more traders.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see if its second outing is more successful until its return on January the 8th. This is due to the presence of the ever-popular Christmas market, also located on the promenade, which will be taking the space the antiques and vintage goods market requires. After its return though, we can expect to see the market appear on a monthly basis with dates confirmed for February and March the 12th, and April the 9th.
Traders wishing to acquire a pitch for the next time the market will need to pay a £5 non-refundable deposit and can contact Corky Events via their website, by telephone on 07502 213873 and even through their email info@corkyevents.com .
