The Last Jedi: You REALLY had to pay attention to spot these.

Star Wars films have always been filled with references for the die-hard fans, but the Last Jedi takes it to another level with its incredible attention to detail and continuity. There are spoilers ahead so please be advised.

There were too many details and references to count in this film. The two biggest being the Leia hologram and Yoda’s cameo, but as the movie directly draws attention to them they’re hardly secrets. And the details discussed here are off the geek radar.

The fight between Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker on Crait was one of the highlights of the film, it was epic and powerful, and when we find out Luke was never there, it’s a big moment for the audience. Superfans may have already guessed this however as some changes were made. The biggest was Luke not leaving any footprints on the ground whilst Kylo did. Luke was also using his old blue lightsaber, which as we know broke in half earlier in the film (it also makes the wrong sound).

This other detail is most likely the most impressive but least needed piece of continuity. If you’ve seen Return of the Jedi you’ll remember the opening scene on Jabba’s barge, if you were paying very close attention to this scene you would have noticed Luke was shot in his right hand (his robotic one). Now, if somehow you were paying even more attention during The Last Jedi you will see that as Luke takes the lightsaber from Rey in the beginning, the close up of his animatronic shows damage, almost like it’s been shot with a blaster…

There are hundreds more references, cameos and details in this film and to cover them all would be impossible. Next time you see a Star Wars film see what you can spot!
