Cheltenham reacts to Sir Kier Starmer refusing to step down

80 Labour MPs have said that they do not think that Sir Kier Starmer should continue as Prime Minister.

Although, Starmer does not back down reportedly telling Cabinet this morning, “If you want to get rid of me, 81 of you need to back an alternative candidate, and they will have to fight me with the Labour party membership.”

The people of Cheltenham, with their Liberal Democratic MP, have mixed opinions about Starmer’s decision to stay put.

Martin Coombs, one local from Cheltenham, says, “The alternatives are far worse; I wouldn’t want Wes Streeting in charge or anybody else.” He adds, “It puts him in a very weak position, and it will just amplify more and more MPs to call for him to go.”

“Its time for him to go. I think he’s weak and I’ve always thought he was weak.

I just think he makes promises and nothing ever comes to fruition.

I think its time for him to step aside but I really don’t know who can replace him either.”

Suzanne Cooper, another resident here says, “The Labour government has not delivered, I think UK politics are an absolute mess, and I don’t think we have a good leader.

It is a terrifying time for British politics; he should step down and let someone more capable of the job come in.”

Everyone has the same opinion of “UK politics is in absolute shambles.”
