The best bars and pubs Cheltenham has to offer

Cheltenham is full of great places to eat and drink, whether you want a meticulously crafted cocktail, a hearty pint or a crisp glass of wine we have you covered!

Montpellier Wine Bar – Montpellier

There’s no hiding that Montpellier Arcade is full of interesting places to both shop and drink. But it’s their wine bar at the top of the street that catches the eye of many. The beautiful Georgian building with a big curved window makes it a cosy and comfortable place to be! There is more space than you think as there’s a large seating area downstairs and the wine list is far from sparse. The staff are knowledgable and more than happy to help you find your perfect wine!

Six Degrees of Separation – Regency

If you’re looking for a funky and intimate place to grab some cocktails (and pizza too!) then Six Degrees of Separation is your place. The staff again are very knowledgeable and don’t hide their personalities. The cocktails are grouped by main spirit and it’s cheaper than you’d think! Every day before 9:00pm it’s 2 for 1 on ALL drinks, and on a Wednesday you can get a cocktail and a pizza for just £9! The pizzas aren’t small either!

The Royal Oak – Prestbury

If you’re planning to find a Cotswolds pub this is your best bet! The Royal Oak is a 10 minute walk from the Racecourse in the beautiful village of Prestbury. The pub offers an open beer garden which is a great place to be in the summer. It’s is run by Buttcombe Brewery so if you like their beers this is a must go! The wine isn’t too bad either with a mixture of sweet and dry wines. Sunday roast is a hit and the burgers are to die for, why not go for lunch? Check their website for any beer or food festivals they have planned too!

Door 4 – Montpellier

For a more classy evening with live music head down to Door 4 for cleverly crafted cocktails. Their menu may be limited, but if you’re nice they’ll make you whatever you want! The bar is extremely popular during Cheltenham Festivals and live bands play constantly throughout the Jazz Festival. Sophistication meets relaxation in this multi-floored spiral staircase masterpiece! – A personal favourite of mine.

John Gordons – Montpellier

It’s clear by this point where the best area to be is…Montpellier! So lets add another one to this list with John Gordons, the spirit specialist. If you’re a gin fanatic, I can’t think of anywhere better as they have the largest selection of any place I have been. The inside area is very British, lots of dark green and brown leather but out the back there is a fairy-lit alleyway which is perfect for an alfresco drink.

So there you have it! Next time you’re going out for a drink, why not think a bit differently and suggest one of these? Wherever you go you won’t be disappointed.
