Wonderful Wednesday: Gloucester Rugby sign Matt Banahan

At midday today Gloucester Rugby announced their first signing for the 2018/19 season: Matt Banahan. The 31-year-old made over 250 appearances for Bath Rugby and played for England in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The press release confirming the signing said “Standing at 6’7″ and weighing over 110kg, Banahan combines pace, power and size, with quality skills in the air and an eye for the try line, causing havoc for defences in a quality Bath backline in recent seasons, and will not continue his career at Kingsholm.”

Fans on Twitter seem to be delighted with the news that one of the Aviva Premiership’s top try scorers will be joining the club.
