“This was a revenge attack”: Controversial councillor responds exclusively to Parklife over Gollywog row

The district councillor who this week found herself at the centre of a racist row has spoken exclusively to our Parklife editor.

Distressed Lynn Sterry, who shared a “Bring back the Gollywogs” post on her Facebook page, has said the row has caused her to have “horrible thoughts” about her life as she has been hounded by media.

Sterry has held members of the HOLD brigade responsible, accusing them of a “revenge attack” on her after a disagreement over the proposed new hospital for the Forest of Dean.

Despite this upset, Sterry has spoken of some support she has received since the social media share.

“I have had many emails from all over the country giving their support and council colleagues from all parties were hugging me. A UKIP member even had tears in his eyes when he hugged me”.

Sterry, who finds the whole issue “a bit raw” does not wish to comment further.
