Covid-19: Vaccination and fertility

According to latest Government figures, over four million people across the UK have received their first dose of the Coronavirus vaccination.

As of today, those over the age of 70 are eligible for the vaccine, alongside healthcare workers and those clinically extremely vulnerable.

Despite this, the UK currently has the highest number of Coronavirus cases in the world, Oxford research shows.

Here in Gloucestershire, 226 patients are hospitalised with Covid-19, twelve of which are in intensive care.

There is overwhelming strain on our National Health Service, and the fight to vaccinate the UK population continues.

ITV’s Good Morning Britain, is known for its ongoing vaccination debate.

This morning, Entrepreneur Paris Petgrave revealed she is still ‘reluctant’ to receive the vaccine particularly due to the lack of research into its effect on fertility.

She and many others trying for a family, have concerns over the safety of the vaccine.

The show’s Dr Hillary Jones echoed updated Government advice .

‘There is no hypothetical mechanism whereby fertility would be affected by this vaccine, there’s no data to suggest it would affect your fertility. . ’

At the end of last year, women planning pregnancy were initially told to avoid the vaccine.

This has since been updated and Gov.uk now states that there is ‘no known risk’ associated with the vaccine and pregnancy.

Covid-19 vaccination remains a choice for women, and female front line workers up and down the country have already made the decision to protect themselves from Coronavirus.
