England Captain Owen Farrell could be free play in England’s opening Six Nations Fixture against Scotland if he completes World Rugby tackling Intervention.
Farrell was cited on Monday after an incident in the 78th minute of Saracens victory over Gloucester, that involved direct shoulder contact to the head of Gloucester flanker Jack Clement. The incident was not seen by referee Carl Dickson. Farrell was allowed to play on and score the winning drop goal.
Farrell has been given a four week ban that will be reduced to three if he attends a tackling course. This means he will miss Saracens European Champions Cup games against Lyon and Edinburgh and their Premiership clash with bottom of the table Bristol Bears.
