Manchester United have agreed a loan deal for Dutch striker Wout Weghorst until the end of the season following the termination of his loan at Besiktas.
The Burnley forward has spent the first half of the season on loan at the Turkish club, but now finds himself heading back to England to play a part in Erik ten Hag’s top-four charge.
Weghorst scored a brace during his country’s FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash with Argentina, which saw the tie taken to a penalty shootout.
Besiktas have agreed a deal for the striker’s loan to be terminated early, with him set to make his debut in the Manchester derby on Saturday.

Weghorst’s last goal for the Turkish club came in a 2-1 win over Kasimpasa and following that match he appeared to wave goodbye to the supporters in the stand.
The loan move comes after the Dutchman scored eight goals in 16 appearances in Eastern Europe.
Former Netherlands striker Marco van Basten has handed ten Hag a stark warning over the signing of Weghorst:
“It can become dangerous if you have too many Dutch people and things are not going well.
“You also saw that at Barcelona, when they had five Dutch people.
“Then it will work against you. Ten Hag has to be careful with that.
“You need a striker that you can play through the air, I don’t think Weghorst is very strong in that regard.
“He can score a header, but he is more of a boy who can do something with his enthusiasm and force.”
