My Mate Mozzie recorded a straight-forward success for the Irish, as Keith Donoghue steered Gavin Cromwell’s horse to an easy success.
The short price favourite gave favourite backers no moments of worry to land his short SP of 8/11. He finished 3 lengths clear of second place Jetronic, with Sam England’s, Al Zaraqaan back in third.
This success was a long time coming for My Mate Mozzie who has consistently ran well without getting his head in front.
Paul Nicholls’ horse Jetronic set an honest gallop, leading by 8 lengths in the opening half mile, and as a result stringing the field out. But he was unable to sustain his strong pace and set the race up perfectly for the winner.
All four horses jumped well throughout until Dan Skelton’s Walk In Clover sprawled on landing at the last to ruin his chances.
The favourite My Mate Mozzie jumped out to his left on occasions, but on the whole was a comfortable winner and looks to have a promising future over fences.
