Evesham United have announced on Wednesday that Mike Ford will take over as the Robins manager at the end of the current campaign.
Ford played for Oxford United and Cardiff City and successfully gained two promotions during his playing career.
Ford is currently managing St. Ives Town who play in the Southern League Central Premier Division and has confirmed he will continue to do so until the season comes to an end.
He then decided to take up management following early retirement and has been caretaker manager of Oxford United as well as assistant manager at the club.
He eventually became manager of Oxford United in 2009 and stayed in the role for five years promoting the club to the National League Southern Division.
Ford is a UEFA A licence coach and has also managed Banbury United where he achieved promotion to Premier Division. Evesham have confirmed that Neil Hunt will continue at the helm for the remainder of the campaign.
In an official club statement Ford said: “I am super happy to have been appointed as the manager of Evesham United Football Club. There are football jobs and there are football jobs, this is one of those that has ignited a fire inside me and I cannot wait to get started. I have met the board on a number of occasions. They are a supportive and honest group of people who want Evesham to be challenging toward the top of the division next season, this is something I am aligned with.”
Evesham will be preparing ahead of Wednesday night’s Worcestershire Senior Cup match away at Worcester City.
