England will continue their 2022 World Cup journey after a convincing victory over Senegal to line up a quarter-final clash with France on Saturday.
Gareth Southgate’s men had anything but a comfortable opening 30 minutes, as Senegal missed two huge opportunities for the opening goal, with Ismaili Sarr firing over from close range and Boulaye Dia forcing Jordan Pickford into an excellent save.
The game soon turned in England’s favour, with Jude Bellingham’s driven cross finding midfield partner Jordan Henderson, who converted the chance to open the game in the 38th minute.

Bellingham was amongst the action once again on the stroke of half-time as the 19-year-old carved through the Senegal midfield before sliding it through to Phil Foden, who presented England captain, Harry Kane, with the chance to not only register his first goal of the tournament, but also his first shot on target.
Bukayo Saka’s delicate finish made it 3-0 just 12 minutes into the second-half and secured a comfortable win for England, who will now play France on Saturday 10th December for a chance to reach the semi-final.
