Bristol Bears without a win in seven games after 26-26 draw with Leicester Tigers

Substitute fly-half AJ Macginty, missed a last minute penalty to extend Bristol’s winless run and leave them joint bottom of the Gallagher Premiership on 17 points , alongside Newcastle Falcons and London Irish.

Star centre Semi Radradra made his much anticipated return to the side and immediately had an impact, scoring the first try of the game but after full back Charles Piutau added to Bristol’s lead with a well worked try, the game changed when the Fijian Radradra was sent to the sin-bin for a dangerous tackle on Leicester’s Freddie Burns.

The current Gallagher Premiership Champions used their numerical advantage to full effect, scoring three tries before the break through Dan Kelly, Chris Ashton and Julian Montoya and when Burns added a penalty 20 minutes from time it looked as if the Tigers had a commanding lead at 26-12.

Bristol to their credit bounced back, Bryan Byrne burrowed over from close range and after Francois Van Wyk was sent off, the Bears seized the momentum to score through the impressive Gabriel Ibitoye and had the chance to win the game at death only for Macginty’s kick to drift wide, costing the Bears a valuable victory.
