De Montfort found back-to-back 3-1 victories over Kent this past weekend, once on Saturday for the NUEL Winter finals and once on Sunday for the NSE Winter finals, winning both of the UK’s national collegiate League of Legends competitions in one fell swoop.
After impressing a live audience in Nottingham on Saturday and dazzling an entirely virtual crowd from the comfort of their homes on Sunday, the double victory for De Montfort sees their slot at the Amazon University Esports Masters for 2023 secured and gives the soon-to-graduate squad one last chance at international glory.
Although the result was replicated, De Montfort did show nerves in the finals on Saturday almost throwing the fourth game and bringing the series to 2-2, but they learned from the match and were able to bounce back with a repeat result on Sunday.
The majority of the squad will be graduating in 2023, making this their final chance to find international success in the Amazon University Esports Masters.
