Darrell Clarke was full of praise for former Port Vale captain and new signing Tom Pett having worked with him before. “To bring a player of Tom’s experience is a boost for myself”.
Pett’s experience cannot be doubted and he will certainly bring something to a Cheltenham team that needs it.
Clarke also noted that “He’s turned down opportunities to play for me”. Pett is clearly on course with the Robins project and a good relationship with his manager can only mean good things.
“He’s a very fit lad and looks after himself”. Clarke shared how Tom seems to be ready to play and this is big news after Elliot Bonds injury which seems he will be out of action “for a few weeks”.
Clarke shared some words on Elliot Bonds too, “Bondy’s got a strong mentality so hopefully he recovers quick.”
It’s unknown exactly when Tom will make his official debut for Town, but Clarke has stated “he is champing at the bit to get some games under his belt”.
There’s no doubt that when Pett is called upon that he will be ready, Clarke said “He’s had a few promotions from league Two and has played games in league One”.
Cheltenham Town look forward to their game tomorrow which sees them face AFC Wimbledon away in the FA Cup first round. They’ll be looking to make it two wins on the bounce and hopefully start to turn their season around.
