Police have issued a warning to stay safe to residents in the Cotswolds after reports of a suspicious incident where a teenage girl was approached by a stranger in a car.
The 18-year-old girl had been taking a walk down the Chipping Campden area shortly before 9pm, when a black car, possibly a Volkswagen, slowly pulled up beside her.
The driver then offered to give her a lift, to which she refused, and this resulted in the man becoming aggressive. He then got out of the car to approach the girl, before returning to the vehicle quickly after the girl alerted a passing car, which then allowed him time to drive away.
It is still unclear what the driver’s intentions were, but police are treating this as a suspicious incident and urge parents and children to review the stranger danger advice on the NSPCC website which can be accessed here.
Police would like to hear from anyone in the area at the time who saw a black or dark coloured car and its occupants, or who has any information that can help police, they can be contacted on the police website,
