“You just have to remember why you’re here” Archie Burford got injured at the start of December in a 4-4 draw with Bournemouth under-18’s after damaging a ligament in his knee and is scheduled back in March, after a 5 month spell off as an 18 year old academy player it’s easy to let your head drop and slow down. This is not the case for Burford who is not willing to back down. The Goalkeeper believes that all that matters is “when you do come back you are at your best.”
The young keeper will hopefully be back in time for the end of the season with 8 games remaining of the FA Youth Alliance season. “The rehab is going well, I’m ahead of where I should be so I’m really looking forward to playing again.” He was scheduled to be back by March but by the looks of things with him running again he will be back a few weeks ahead of schedule.
Burford is enjoying life at Cheltenham Town outside of his injury woes saying, “it’s been great it’s a very professional place to be around every day, even with an injury.” There have been quite a few recent graduates of the academy into the first team, including Cameron Walters and Jay Simpson.
The main goal for Burford is to “Just train as hard as I can and get to the highest level possible for me to play at by working hard every day.” His return to the first team will be a good boost to the under 18’s during a tough period for them with only 2 wins in their last 10.
