Being an Instagram blogger was a trend that crept up on all of us. One day Instagram was full of blurry photos of friendship groups and then boom perfectly edited photos of girls in some hot sunny location you wouldn’t be able to afford was everywhere.
It still feels completely unreal how you can make a large profit from posting aesthetically pleasing photos of an avocado salad.
And the question strikes on whether these instagram bloggers really deserve the praise they’re getting.
BBC news recently published an article about an array of entitled influencers who expected free cake from professional chef and baker Reshmi Bennett. This entitlement strikes the question of do we truly need influencers?
However, a new wave of instagram bloggers may be saving their doomed reputation.
When instagram bloggers started you only saw one body type which, of course, was incredibly skinny but with the world slowly changing it’s beauty standards, a more varied type of blogging started.
Cara-jade who is fondly known by her fans as Carbie_Cara is a body positivy instagram blogger who preaches self-love and the idea to be healthy in both mind and body .
Carbie_Cara has 12k followers and posts a majority of gym pictures and health food options.
Her instagram account originally started of as a weight lost scheme to help her shed a few pounds but surely developed into much ‘more than that’
Cara has suffered for many years from a serious binge eating disorder. But with the help of her self- love Instagram page she is recovering everyday.
Cara has challenged her eating disorder in many ways which has included a crisp challenge which she has set up for herself to help her self-restraint.
She admitted to her followers that crisps was one of her biggest fears when it came to food due to her constantly binging on a whole multipack of crisps. She even stopped buying multipacks to stop herself from eating the whole packet.
However the Cheltenham-based blogger has recently challenged herself by purchasing a large multipack of walkers crisps and attempting to eat one a day.
She also prides herself on being honest and open with her many followers and letting them know when she has not stuck to her diet. She preaches self-love even when she is at her darkest times and tells her followers that ‘[she] wanted to be honest … about all [her] struggles’.
Carbie-Cara is a huge shift from the fake influencer world, she seems real and refreshing, letting her followers know the honest truth about the struggles she receives daily.
I hope that this will cause a shift in the influencer world and we will see a new type of Instagram blogger.
