It’s not easy staying sober in our alcohol fuelled culture. Especially at social events where drinking is often the main focus. It takes a lot of self-motivation and drive not to succumb to drinking habits. The best thing to do is to keep yourself busy and put your energy into something constructive, even if that means taking up a new hobby or engaging in new activities. We have put together a list of fun things to do in Dry January that will keep you away from the dreaded hangover.
- Try booze-free cocktails (Sober Parrot/Revolution)
Revolution in Cheltenham have a fantastic mocktail menu available for non-drinkers. They play the newest and top hit playlists, along with featured DJ’s who bring a varied new and creative vibe to the bar. There’s also a new bar opening up in Cheltenham called the Sober Parrot which is an alcohol-free music venue. This is the new hot place to go for the hangover-free experience.
. Get walking – start discovering new areas in your local town that you haven’t visited (Cleeve Hill/ Leckhampton Hill)
Cheltenham is centered in the beautiful cotswolds, popular for days out amongst local people, the cotswolds attracts visitors from all over the world who wish to experience “real England”. Cheltenham is home to the renowned Cheltenham racecourse, regency styled buildings, including the Pittville Pump room, remains of Cheltenham’s past as a spa town. We have fine art at the Wilson museum and the Everyman Theatre. If you are looking for ‘food for the soul’ head out to Cleeve Hill for a wonderful walk and view the divine sights Cheltenham has to offer.

Open mic nights are great to just kick back with a can of coke a cola and enjoy the variety of different musicians. Karaoke nights can be just as much fun sober as they are after a few bevies! Head over to the Spectre or Suffolk Arms for a lively evening.
