Results have not been going Gloucester City’s way recently, with their position in the table dropping with every game. The reasons for this may be uncertain, but there are certainly a few factors that could be contributing.
Just over one month ago, Gloucester were sitting comfortably in the play off places following a stellar run of form, winning four out of five league games in October and going unbeaten throughout the month following Steven King’s appointment.
However things didn’t look so pretty in November as they lost all but one game, and it remains to be seen how they will fare in December.
Injuries were a major problem for Gloucester during November, with players dropping like flies throughout the month, forcing King to make several short term signings, as well as one of the coaches having to make an appearance due to a severe lack of squad depth.
Thankfully for Gloucester City, following their win away to Kidderminster, King confirmed that more players have returned from injury.
“We’ve got a couple of bodies back, which is so important to us, that’s why we struggled so much.”
“Last week we had six or seven training, you can’t run a team like that, having a couple of players back today made a huge difference, signed a couple, again made a big difference.”
Due to a lack of consistency when it comes to the staring eleven every game, it bodes for more of a challenge for the team to gel together, and when a team has less cohesion, the quality of results tend to drop as well.

There have been many recent occasions where Gloucester have taken the lead but fallen short later in the game, most notably taking the lead twice against Scarborough Athletic back on the 12th November, before going on to lose the game after an 88th minute winner, something King will be looking to mend this month as the festive period brings many important fixtures for The Tigers.
