The NatWest Six Nations kicks off next month with England hoping to claim the title for the third consecutive title.
Many Gloucester players will be hopeful of following in the steps of Jake Polledri, who was called into the Italian national squad following a strong start to the season.
Wales name their side Tuesday morning, with Ross Moriarty and Owen Williams shoo-ins to join up with their National side. Moriarty has recently returned from injury, but due to injuries to Sam Warburton and Dan Lydiate, he is expected to be recalled.
Lewis Ludlow could also benefit from these injuries. The Gloucester born back row tops the tackle charts this season with an impressive 206 tackles. This impressive feat has impressed the Wales coaches, so expect to see him in the red jersey soon.
Scotland also announce their squad on Tuesday with centre, Matt Scott and scrum-half Ben Vellacott hopeful of a call up. Scott has been in and out of the Scotland set up in recent years but has failed to cement his place under new coach, Gregor Townsend. Scott has also recently returned from injury and has failed to see significant game time for Gloucester, so a call up will come as a surprise this time round. Vellacott has enjoyed a good season so far, and despite being available for Scotland and England, this Six Nations may come too soon for the youngster
Ben Morgan could see a recall to the England squad, despite not playing for England since the 2015 World Cup. Injuries to Billy Vunipola and Nathan Hughes has opened the door for the impressive Exeter youngster Sam Simmonds and Bath’s Zach Mercer, who has trained with the squad as an ‘apprentice’, but Morgan must also be in contention.
