Charlie McCann says a bumper crowd at The New Lawn can give Forest Green Rovers a boost ahead of their League Two clash with Wrexham.
A sell-out is expected at The New Lawn on Saturday when Hollywood-owned, Wrexham comes to Nailsworth, something that hasn’t happened in almost two years.
For many of the Rovers players, this will be a new experience, but McCann is hoping that the extra noise can drive Rovers to a positive result.
“With there being a bigger crowd, it can only drive us on to really go for it and I think it will give us a boost.
“It’s an occasion you can thrive on,” McCann said.
Rovers head into this clash having suffered defeat in midweek against Oxford United but the performance was greatly improved compared to recent matches.
The only letdown for Rovers was their inability to find the back of the net as they made it three games without a goal which McCann believes was the difference.
“Overall, it was a really positive performance.
“The only thing that let us down, was we probably shot ourselves in the foot, some missed chances and the game was probably ours to win.
“That has been the story of the season so far,” he said.
But even with the goal drought, Saturday’s opponents arrive at The New Lawn with a poor defensive record.
Wrexham have conceded only four less than Rovers which makes McCann believe this is the perfect time to play them.
“They’ve shipped a few goals.
“It will be an exciting game because both teams will want to play attacking football and want to score goals.
“We’re getting players back that are attacking threats and we’re going to start causing teams problems again,” he said.
Despite the poor run of form, there is belief around the club that a positive result against a high-flying side could kickstart a positive turn in their season.

“Hopefully this can be a game, that when we look back on at the end of the season, we can say that’s where the season turned around,” McCann said.
