Cheltenham Town Ladies manager Tom Davies speaks words of encouragement and trust for his team as he gets ready for the derby clash against Bridgwater at the Corinium Stadium this Tuesday.
After their hardworking promotion last season into the Womens National League in the Southern Division, Davies believes that “we don’t really need to change anything when we have positive results.”
Davies’ confidence remains high for the Robinesses after yesterday’s (October 9) friendly against Leafield Athletic where they secured a confident 3-1 victory in preparation for the big derby clash.
Davies says: It’s a derby game. We know what derby games can be like. They can be relentless, and we are looking forward to playing them at home.”
Alongside the relentlessness that a derby game holds, the manager reflects on the exciting nature that Tuesday’s game holds as both sides play each other for the first time.
Despite being “geographically close, in terms of women’s football and the pyramid that we are in”, Davis remains ambitious for a home derby win.
Davies says: “We are going to try to be aggressive in the right areas and move the ball in the tempo we do best.”
The manager remains positive in his approach to the Robinesses’ ability as he states that: “we will keep working hard and doing what we are doing and ultimately, we will get the results.”
The Robinesses host Bridgwater United at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester on Tuesday, 11 October.
