“We are bottom of the league ultimately” Xander Howgate on Quedgeley Wanderers season so far

Quedgeley Wanderers midfielder Xander Howgate reveals the Glouestershire based side needs to focus on rebuilding the clubs reputation after receiving “more coverage” and “embarrassing press”.

The Wanderers season went from bad to worse after first team manager at the time Michael Mayes kicked out at the Gala Wilton manager when his team conceded a last minute winner despite his side leading the game 4-3.

This left the club no choice but to sack Mayes due to a video of the incident going viral on Twitter and Tik Tok.

Mayes would apologise for his actions but days later he was sacked as the University Of Gloucestershire Second team manager.

Despite all the drama, it was yet another loss for Quedgeley Wanderers, leaving them rock bottom of the Marcliff Gloucestershire County First Division on five points.

After the poor spell of form and with their manager sacked, Howgate said ” We really do struggle to see out wins for Quedgeley, we are bottom of the league ultimately, we took on top of the league and were 4-3 up and lost last minute, shows us that player of player we have it in us, so now we know we can do these things it is ultimately now we just need to get some points.

“It’s a relegation battle at the end of the day so if we don’t get points here it will look bad on us, it’s embarrassing as well, press and coverage about us now, we got to show what we can do and show respect to our vice manager rob who’s coming in.”

Quedgeley next take on Broadwell Amateurs away who sit seventh in the league table this Saturday.
