Cheltenham Town returns to League One action this Saturday as the Robins look to regroup after Tuesdays semi final defeat to Plymouth.
Wade Elliott’s side narrowly missed out on a chance of returning to Wembley Stadium only to be denied by the dreaded penalty shootout after top scorer Alfie May had his penalty saved to send the Robins into sudden death.
“They’ve obviously felt disappointed but they have taken it well, we got a game on the weekend and we need to turn our attention to that” said Elliott.
Cheltenham now focuses on their game on the weekend and will travel down safe to play against mid-table side Portsmouth.
When speaking on his opponents game plan, Elliott said: ” They’ got a style, they like to play on the front foot and play attacking football”
Obviously my neck of the woods isn’t to far from Portsmouth so I think I have a decent understanding of what the expectations are down there.”
Elliot seems to be aware of the dangers of Portsmouth and highlighted some of their key players they need to watch out for.
“Yes they have got good players which you expect at this level, they are a big club and have an attractive proposition for players.
Colby Bishop is a threat, he was good in the home leg, his movement across the box is very good, Michael Jacobs, Owen Dale and Reeco Hackett-Fairchild are very good attacking players, the full backs love to bomb on forward and we know about Joe Morrell.”
In the previous fixture, Pompey managed to get a 2-0 win over Cheltenham at the Completely Suzuki Stadium, where Bishop scored a brace.
