Cheltenham Saracens U18 drew 1-1 to Cinderford U18 at The Big Local Stadium in a tight affair which sees Sarries remain fifth in the U18 CYFL Gloucestershire Floodlit league.
Ethan Rose’s seventh goal of the season from the spot gave Sarries the lead on the 55th mark but was cancelled out by Cinderford striker Luke Roberts, after a mistake from Saracens goalkeeper Joe Goode gave the number seven a chance to tap home.
With the game ending all square, it keeps Saracens three points of the promotion places, with four games in hand on leaders Bishops Cleeve.
Saracens remain unbeaten in the league this season but it didn’t stop manager Beckem Foley from showing his disappointment in the teams performance.

“Feels like a loss. Performance-wise we were dreadful. There was not any nice football to watch, that’s probably one of the worst games of football I’ve watched in my life, it’s very disappointing, it’s very disappointing game.”
Foley was frustrated with Saracens output in the game calling them out and not putting any blame on Goode’s mistake in goal.
“Our keeper shouldn’t have to worry cause we should’ve put the game to bed. He shouldn’t have to worry about making a mistake that potentially costs points, cause we’ve got to do our job in putting the ball in the back of the net.”
The Sarries manager wasn’t threatened by Cinderford but believes his side won’t learn from previous mistakes.
“At the end of the day, Cinderford haven’t really done anything to us during the game, bar that chance at the end, we beat ourself, and that’s how I see it happening for the rest of the season.”
Saracens face Tuffley Rovers U18 in the S Turier & Son Cup next, with a chance to rest from the league, Foley sees it as an opportunity and fancies his side’s chances of a big day out.
“The next game we’ve got is the league cup so it’s a chance to rest from the league for a bit and potentially look forward to a final. There’s an incentive there to get the lads up and ready for the game.”
Following their cup game, their next league encounter is against bottom of the pile Dursley Town Boys on February 22nd, where they hope to get back to winning ways.
