Cheltenham Bournside school was one of the many schools that has been forced to shut its doors due to a leak, leaving people within the GL51 postcode area with poor flowing, or no water at all.
Cheltenham Bournside is a secondary school with a community of students from years seven to eleven, and teaching over 45 different subjects.
The leak was first made known by residents of Caernarvon Road on Wednesday, and initially Severn Trent Water was unsure when water would become available again so schools have been forced to close.
A message on the school’s website today said there had been “unclear communications” from Severn Trent Water. “School is closed today (Friday, 8th December) due to a water supply issue outside of our control. We apologise for the late notice and conflicting messages due to unclear communications from Severn Trent Water.”
At 13:48, Severn Trent reported that water was beginning to flow again. “We’re pleased to let you know that our teams have completed all the repair work and you should start to see your supplies returning to normal. We’re so sorry for the time it took to carry out these works, but we really do appreciate your patience whilst this was ongoing.”
The other schools forced to close today are Greatfield Park Primary School, Bettridge School, St Mark’s C of E Junior School, and Warden Hill School.
