Raducanu struggles continue after disappointing first round exit in Sydney

Emma Raducanu playing at the Transylvania Open in October

Winning just one game in two sets, Raducanu yet again failed to replicate the form that saw claim the US Open last year.

Struggling with her serve throughout, six double faults and zero aces aided her opponent Elena Rybakina who will now face Caroline Garcia.

Despite managing to save two match points, Raducanu couldn’t prevent Rybakina from wrapping up a comfortable victory inside an hour.

Known for making strong starts to the tennis season, the in-form Rybakina made the Adelaide final just last week, coming up short to world number one, Ash Barty in the final.

Since changing coaches, Raducanu has looked a shadow of the underdog that we saw light up the court in New York.

At just 19, it may be a fair to suggest that the spotlight may be hindering her development with many tennis stars finding their feet on the court much later on into their development.

With time on her side, tennis fans can rest assured we haven’t seen the best of her yet. With the dust settling, will she be able to recapture her form in time for Wimbledon in July?
