Match Preview: Cirencester Town vs Larkhall Athletic

Cirencester Town look to increase the pressure at the top of the table as they face Larkhall Athletic at the Corinium Stadium tonight.

The home side find themselves second in the Southern South Division One League and just two points off the top of the league.

A win against Larkhall would see Cirencester move to the summit ahead of their top of the table clash against Frome Town on Saturday.

As for Larkhall Athletic, they go into the game in 10th. However, the away side have games in hand on eight of the nine teams above them in the league and with just 10 points separating them and a play off place, Larkhall will be pushing for a strong second half of the season.

The Centurions are enjoying a good run of form, winning four of their last five league games, and before the game manager John Brough says he is ‘pleased’ with where his side is at the moment.

On his side’s impressive form Brough said: “We’ve got good players, we’ve had players come back from injury. The competition for places is growing and the level of performance has improved.”

The Cirencester manager told our reporter Charlie Barnett: “We’ve found a way to win football matches. Hope it may continue but we’re pleased with where we are in this particular time.”

Cirencester Town will be hoping for another large crowd at tonight’s game. With over 250 fans attending their last game Brough said: “It’s good for the players to play in front of a bigger crowd with a better atmosphere.”

The Larks have won their last two games in the league but because of fixture postponement problems, they have had an extended break from games and will be looking to continue their recent form.
