Gloucester City are reportedly in talks to sign Derby County’s under-23’s striker Lewis Walker on loan in a bid to help them with their survival bid in the National League South this season.
The young 18 year-old forward could join Marc Richards’ side with the club currently just five points adrift of the relegation zone, according to reports.
Walker started his career at Ilkeston, before making the switch to join up with the Derby County academy system in January 2016 and has been involved within the Rams’ under-23’s setup this season.
He also enjoyed a loan spell with Darlington in 2017 and is the brother of Nottingham Forest player Tyler Walker, who has already made a breakthrough for the England under-20’s. Walker will be hoping to follow in his brother’s footsteps in featuring for the national side at some level in the future and a move to Gloucester City could give him vital first-team minutes.

Nottingham Forest legend, Des Walker, who also featured for Serie A outfit Sampdoria, is the dad of Walker and he will be hoping his son will make a big impact with the Tigers lacking fire power up front this season, with current top scorer Joe Parker on a mere seven goals.
The Tigers took another Rams player in the form of Luke Thomas on loan last season who impressed throughout his time at the club. They’ll be looking for Walker to have a similar type of influence under Marc Richards if they can manage to bring the exciting young prospect to Gloucester City.
