Players to watch: Super Bowl LV: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Kansas City Chiefs

The 55th NFL Super Bowl is just four days away, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs go head to head in Tampa, Florida.

In the lead up to this fierce clash, I’ll be taking a look at a couple of players from each side that are worth keeping a keen eye on….

Devin White – Tampa Bay – Position: Linebacker

Bucs defensive man Devin White has shown this season that is pretty beastly. The 22-year old is rounding off his second senior season with the biggest test of his career and I have no doubt that he’ll be well up for the challenge.

Standing at just 6 foot, he makes up for his height by weighing in at 17 stone. Coupled with his decent pace when coming in for the tackle, he is a nightmare for any opposition player and it’ll be interesting to see how the Chiefs offence deals with such a threat.

His partnership with fellow linebacker Lavonte David who is nine years White’s senior makes the strength of the Bucs defence that extra bit more worrying for the Chiefs, so don’t be surprised to see them struggle at points during drives.

Chris Godwin – Tampa Bay – Position: Wide Receiver

24-year old Godwin is a free agent at the end of the season, which is no doubt a huge blow to the Bucs, but the Super Bowl is the perfect match for him to attract some suitors in preparation for the new campaign.

Godwin has been excellent for the Tampa side this season, scoring seven touchdowns. Despite only playing 12 games for them this campaign, he’s still remained one of the most important men for Bruce Arians’ side.

His agility and speed when running with the ball is excellent, so if the Chiefs can get a hold on him, this could be huge for them in terms of taking control of the game and limiting the output of one the Bucs’ most crucial offensive men.

Tyreek Hill – Kansas City Chiefs –  Position: Wide Receiver

I feel like I just have to pick this man out as one to watch for the Chiefs. Hill will be once again facing the Bucs whom he ran riot against back in November. Despite the narrow 27-24 for Kansas, Tyreek Hill had the game of his life, scoring two touchdowns out of his three and claiming seven catches for 203 yards in the first quarter alone, so he will be hoping to have a similar impact on Sunday.

I would go as far as to say that of all the wide receivers that will be on the pitch during Sunday’s game that is probably the hardest to contain. Standing at 5ft 10, his speed is unmatched and when I’ve seen him play, even some of the biggest defensive players struggle to bring him down.

He is one of a few shining lights for the Chiefs and it’ll be interesting to see what impact he can have on such a big game.

Travis Kelce – Kansas City Chiefs – Position: Tight End

This may feel a bit unoriginal, but I can’t think of someone who has good an influence on a team than Travis Kelce on the Chiefs.

I am certain that he will once again be at the centre of things with his connection to Patrick Mahomes, and he always makes it very hard for the opposition to pick him up. Whenever he makes a catch, no one ever seems to be too near him and that could be a worry for the Bucs, who will need to keep tabs on the tight end.

It goes without saying, the root of Kelce’s impact on games comes from the ability of Mahomes, so there will be a lot of things the Tampa side will need to think about when trying to halt this Chiefs offence.

Expect a high scoring, frantic game, but one that will certainly provide an entertaining end to a season that has been a tough one for many teams.
