The first week of March was dubbed ‘National Pie Week’ by Jus-Rol pastry company back in 2007, and as a pie-loving nation, we’re totally here for it. Check out Parklife’s list of top spots in and around Cheltenham to pick up a pie.
The Stable
Located right in the centre of the town, The Stable specialises in both pizzas and pies. With five unique varieties of pie on the menu, there’s something for everyone, from a Lamb Bam Boogie to a Squish Squash vegetarian option. To celebrate the well-loved national event, they’re offering you and a friend a free pie if you sign up on their website – bonus.
The Beehive
The Beehive is a popular choice of pub amongst locals, and in addition to its range of ales and gins, is its famous Tom’s Pies.
A popular choice on the menu is Tom’s trio, made up of a steak & ale, chicken ham & leek and mushroom & spinach pie served with mash, vegetables & (of course) gravy. Anywhere where you can sample three for the price of one is a winner in our eyes!
The Royal Oak
A little far out but definitely worth it, this classic country pub has an extensive menu – and their homemade pies top the lot. Though each of the five options available is equally as appealing, the Cotswold Game Pie is our favourite, served with your choice of mash, thick cut chips or fries.
The Gloucester Old Spot
One of our favourite pubs for its idyllic setting and comfortable interior, the Gloucester Old Spot is famous for its baked seafood pie. Filled with smoked haddock, salmon, monkfish, tiger prawns AND mussels, its surrounded by a cheddar crust and served with a salad.
Gloucester Services
Though it doesn’t quite have the same charming locations as the other entries, this award-winning service station deserves a mention and definitely deserves a trip. Found between junction 11 and 12 on the M5, it serves a mouth-watering variety of homemade pies that make it hard not to stop off for.
