Cheltenham’s Christmas cheer may have been dampened this year but it hasn’t stopped people from getting into the festive spirit from behind a computer screen at home. With lockdown pushing people to shop online, customers have been urged to support local businesses.
Cheltenham business improvement district (BID) have set up a new campaign to support local businesses this Christmas, the campaign aims to overcome the setbacks lockdown has put them through by creating a directory of local retailers that are still open and offering their own delivery services this year.
A Facebook group has been made in the name of ‘Love Cheltenham- supporting local businesses’ so that people can find and order from shops that might struggle to compete with well-known online retailers.
Belinda Hunt, operations manager at BID says ‘this campaign will support businesses by reminding locals that shops are still there and offering their services.’
The businesses trying to persuade shoppers to spend money with them this Christmas are:
- The Entertainer toy shop offering 10% off every online order
- The Ultimate Party shop offers free elf on the shelf with every order
- Badlands record shop have click and collect services
- Easy Lifestyles offers beautiful clothing, jewellery and accessories
- Neal’s Yard Remedies and natural health shop gives 25% off when you click and collect with them
