West Ham continued their impressive Premier League run with an exciting 2-1 home victory over struggling West Brom.
Michail Antonio scored his second in as many games since coming back into the side last week from injury. He now has 41 West Ham goals in the Premier League, with only club legends Mark Noble and Paolo Di Canio having more for the Hammers.
“This season the chemistry is so good this season. Things are looking good, and we can be even better,” said Antonio.
The Hammers moved up into seventh in the league, and only five points from the top having won their last three games. Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, the Baggies lost their fourth in five to remain 19th despite a spirited performance.
The Baggies’ dire defensive record continued as they took their goals conceded tally to 43, nine more than any other team in the league.
Jarrod Bowen scored his fifth goal of the season just before the half-time whistle with an improvised, chested finish to give the Hammers the lead.
Matheus Pereira, the hero in last weekend’s Black Country derby, fired in a brilliant equaliser from outside of the box to bring the Baggies level soon after the second half began.
Over seven hours of game time had passed since West Ham last conceded in the league until Pereira’s goal.
Dara O’Shea provided a goal-saving header off the line before Declan Rice narrowly fired wide as West Ham took the game into their hands.
Michail Antonio then restored the Hammers’ lead with a superb finish whilst falling falling an Andriy Yarmolenko header.
Darnell Furlong and Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher came the closest to levelling for the Baggies but West Ham were able to shut them out to secure all three points.
