It is less than a year to go until Brexit is fully enforced on the UK. Throughout the campaigning and the aftermath of the results there have been many memorable Brexit moments.
The day the news broke
Friday 24 June 2016 was the day the world found out our decision to leave the European Union. A lot of the nation was left in shock, even those who voted to leave were took back by the result.
The Thames stand off
London was host to a floating Brexit standoff. Boats let by former UKIP leader Nigel Farage and pro-Brexiteer were ambushed by anti-Brexit boats led by rock star Bob Geldof. The drama involved spraying water over each other, throwing insults and waving banners.
French people hopping on the Eurostar to give us croissants
French travellers hopped on the Eurostar over to London for the sole purpose of handing our croissants to Londoners. The day before the Brexit vote they handed out pastries to try and convince people not to vote to leave the EU.
#catsagainstbrexit
Twitter was armed with an army of pro-EU political felines. Twitter users posted photos of their sad cats and blamed Brexit for making their kitties blue. People were using their pets to post their own Brexit agendas on social media in the cutest way.
Will Young has the Brexit bus
The former Pop Idol winner has taken control of the infamous Brexit bus. The big red bus was known for stating “we send the EU £350 million a week lets fund our NHS instead”, which was later disputed after the country had voted in favour of Brexit. Will used the bus to transport him to and from Glastonbury.
Brexit, Tesco and Marmite
One of Britain’s favourite supermarket let us down by running out of a British classic: Marmite! Other products were out of stock or drastically low. Tesco also tweeted that Brexit would mean that their prices would rise, upsetting both leavers and remainers.
