Match Preview: Tuffley Rovers vs Roman Glass St George

Tuffley Rovers look to increase the gap between themselves and the relegation places as they take on Roman Glass St George at Glevum Park tonight.

Despite COVID playing its part in the postponement of fixtures across all leagues in football, both Tuffley Rovers and Roman Glass St George have played 26 games in the division.

Tuffley go into the game sitting 17th in the Hellenic Premier League with just two points separating them and Chipping Sodbury Town in 16th, whilst they trail Thornbury Town in 15th by just four points.

Tuffley also find themselves with games in hand on both Chipping Sodbury and Thornbury and will therefore be hoping to gain ground on the two clubs.

As for Roman Glass St George, they go into the fixture 19 points and seven positions ahead of their opponents, as they chase the leading pack in 10th.

With a win, Roman Glass St George will reduce the gap between them and Westbury United in ninth to just one point.

However, Westbury United have struggled to play some of their games, included their most recent scheduled game against Westfields which was postponed, the side do currently have four games in hand over Roman Glass St George.

Tuffley Rovers have won just three of the 12 home games they have played this season, and will therefore be looking to better their form on home soil as they move into the latter stages of the Hellenic season.

The home side suffered 11 straight defeats in the league before their most recent game against Shrivenham in which they ended the torrid run with a 3-2 victory.

As for Roman Glass St George, they have three wins in their last six games, the other three being losses against tougher opponents placed in fourth, third and second. With Roman Glass St George scoring 49 and conceding 41 in the league so far, tonight’s game could shape up to be a thriller.
