Since the start of the year, there has been major news involving WWE.
Since Vince McMahon has come out of retirement to return to the company’s board of directors, news has come out that WWE are preparing for a sale with a number of companies rumored to buy the wrestling giant, from Endeavour to Disney.
Ben Allison explains the situation and how the sale could work.
“WWE have been preparing for a sale for a while now,” says Allison.
“Nick Khan’s role was originally designed to be replaced by a big corporation, somebody such as Disney, Comcast or Endeavour.”
“The idea for it was that the company would just slip in and then Vince McMahon would still be the main guy.”
Many fans are notably concerned that a sale could have a negative impact on the company, especially since the return of McMahon.
But Allison is positive that a potential sale won’t create too much change.
“How much of an impact could it have? It’s not as drastic as people think,” Allison explains.
“The biggest impact it could have is the return of Vince McMahon in creative or in the business side of WWE, that is the most notable impact it could have.”
“It’s not going to be as big as people think, but it will have small impacts.”
Companies have already made their interest known in the company, the Wrestling Republic owner gives his prediction on who will buy WWE.
“My money would be on Endeavour,” Allison says.
“They purchased UFC a couple of years ago and they are looking to purchase more companies and they are earning a lot of money at the minute.”
“Purchasing WWE would be a business move that would make a lot of sense for them.”
WWE are set to return to the UK, July 1st in London at The O2. It remains to be seen if a sale of the company could affect that.
