“It’s a wake up call” says Olli Billings as his unbeaten Dursley side are defeated for the first time this season

Dursley Town Under-18s have had a great start to the season so far, winning six drawing one and losing one. Billings team were seven unbeaten coming into the game against Slimbridge which they narrowly lost 3-2 last night.

Billings said: “The lads are obliviously very very very disappointed, but we have a game Sunday to put things right.

As a top of the table side, we should be taking the game to them and I would say they were the better side on the night”.

Slimbridge sat mid-table before the game last night, and had already lost to second place Bishop’s Cleeve who are trying to catch Billings side at the top of the league.

Billings said: “I see that as a wake up call for our boys, I hope this result does them good because sometimes you learn from these results as players.

“We’ve had some great wins this season, but we’re probably better at learning off that then we are winning big sometimes”.

Before this defeat to Slimbridge, Dursley u18s had never conceded more than one goal in Eight games in all competitions so far this season.

Billings said: “I’ve been very impressed with my defence this season, but for some reason today, whether it was the local derby aspect, they just played a totally different game and that is what cost us.”

Next up for Billings side is back to back games against Cheltenham Saracens, one in the league and one in the league cup.

Billings said: “We look forward to Sunday, we hope to get a win, play it right, and go through in the cup.

“We might learn a thing or two about Cheltenham Saracens as well come Sunday, Hopefully we can enjoy it on Sunday and have a good game.”
