A Cotswold pub is set to re-open after a £3.5 million refurbishment.
The Frogmill Inn, previously owned by Marco Pierre White, will open in July.
The 16th century inn in Shipton Oliffe, Andoversford, was one of nine of the celebrity chef’s firms to go bust.
The pub brand Brakspear, which owns over 130 pubs in the UK, bought the Frogmill in December 2015.
When the company bought the Frogmill, Tom Davies, chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have acquired the Frogmill Inn. It is a great pub in a great location and bolsters our presence in the Cotswolds, where we have bought two other pubs this year.”
Other pubs that Brakspear currently own, in Gloucestershire, include: the Five Alls in Gloucester and the Porch House in Stow-on-the-Wold which, was named AA Pub of the Year in 2015.
Before it closed, the Frogmill was a popular wedding venue in Gloucestershire.
Rachel James, who was a bride at the Inn in 2002, said “Every time I think about trying to go there to celebrate my anniversary it’s been closed or subject to refurbishment. Hopefully there’s no excuse now that it’s reopening around the time of our anniversary so we might have time to get in there quick! We hope this will put the beautiful inn back on the map where it belongs!”
Mike McFarland, who also got married at the Frogmill Inn, is hoping to celebrate his next anniversary there too: “I’m pleased it’s making a comeback. I saw it go up for sale after I got married and was closed without warning. I’d been planning on having my wedding anniversary meal there, so I was disappointed. Now it’s due to re-open I fully intend to take my wife there to reminisce and have that anniversary meal!”
The customers aren’t the only ones excited about the re-opening, local businesses are looking forward to have neighbours again:
Great to see #FrogmillInn being returned to it’s former glory by @BrakspearPubs . Looking forward to meeting our new neighbours and a sparkling new pub next door.
