David Horseman says he wants Forest Green Rovers to make The New Lawn a fortress ahead of their League Two clash with Crawley Town on Saturday.
Rovers have only managed two home wins this season with only one coming in the league against Colchester United with a record 5-0 win.
Tuesday night saw Rovers fall to a 2-0 defeat at home to Barrow meaning they have only enjoyed one league home win in their last 11 games at The New Lawn.
“We want to cause teams problems when they come to The New Lawn and that’s what we’ll be after tomorrow,” Horseman said.
It is a third home game in a row for Horseman as Rovers host Crawley who are currently undefeated in their last five games.
Scott Lindsey’s side have also only won once on the road this season but despite this statistic Horseman believes Crawley will still cause his side a problem.
“Scott Lindsey has got them playing expansive football, quite exciting actually. They have got a really hungry team.
“Crawley are a team that can beat you but can also easily be beaten.
“It will be a tough game, but it is one, like always, if we play well, we think we can win.”
Crawley may also have an extra factor to spur them on as manager, Lindsey, is returning to his old club where he was once assistant manager.
Lindsey was assistant to Mark Cooper for almost three seasons and was part of the team that saw Rovers promoted to the Football League for the first time in their history back in 2018.
Horseman has welcomed Lindsey back to The New Lawn with open arms and is prepared for him to come back with an urge to get a result against his old side.
“I imagine he will want to get one over on his old club.”
But Horseman will have some reinforcements to call upon as Jordan Moore-Taylor and Callum Jones edge closer to a return from injury.
Moore-Taylor and Jones look set to play a part in tomorrow’s game, but Horseman was reluctant to shed a light on how much involvement they will have.
“Jordy [Moore-Taylor] will be involved; I don’t want to say how much because he probably won’t start. He has only been training one full week.
“I spoke to him yesterday and he feels he probably needs another week training.
“Callum Jones is another one who will be involved tomorrow. He has worked really hard.”
Having players returning from injury may give Rovers an extra boost and may spark some more belief in the fans that Horseman can turn the season around.
