National League North side, Gloucester City are devastated with the shocking news of the kit man’s home suddenly bursting up into flames.
The club has said they have “lost everything” after the tragic event.
EFL League Two side Forest Green Rovers have offered their own money to pay for new training kits and Telford have also offered some of their old kits to help out the struggling side.
The apparent cause of the fire is said to be Mr. Farr’s tumble dryer.
All residents of the house at the time made it outside the blaze to safety, but Mr. Farr’s 81-year-old mother needed treatment from the local hospital. She has now been discharged from hospital and no longer needs to receive treatment.
Following the news of the fire, the club chairman, Patrick Chambers said: “It only happened yesterday so it’s all hands to the pump to try and make sure we can replace everything.”
“We’ve already seen a few fans that have reached out online asking how can we help.”
A GoFundMe page has been created by Dave Jones (@daveangel1972) for Gloucester’s kit man Chris Farr which has currently raised more than £2,500 for the loss of Mr. Farr’s property and belongings and also thousands of pounds of damage to items owned by Gloucester City AFC.
Gloucester’s kit provider, EV2 have said they will replace the clubs away kits for free.
“We’re not in the best place financially, so something like this really does add to our woes, but we’ll come through it, we’ll stick together and we’ll find a way of moving forward, I’m certain.” Chambers added.
